Wednesday Misc: more old radio cliches

The Summerween piece had the following passage removed because it was a lot of throat-clearing, and yanked the piece in another direction. Digressions are fun but they have to be worth it.

The satellite radio station to which I subscribe -

(Hold on, be right back. Just realized I signed up for the $3.79 for six months special, and it bumps up to $29.99 per month in a few days, and I’ll have to quit, then wait a day, then sign up for a new introductory rate. We’ve been doing this dance for years. )

I will probably sign up again, for the old time radio channel. Even though I have every episode they play, the complete run of every show that matters, it’s nice to have the channel choose the shows. I don’t have the complete Shadow or Lone Ranger, those two OTR cliches, because they don’t matter much. The Shadow is a kid’s show. I am still grappling with the memory of The Shadow movie serial, in which he was never invisible, and was fighting someone who was. It’s like a Batman movie where he has a high squeaky voice and drives a VW bug and his enemy has a hoarse whisper and an insanely cool armored car. Anyway.
